CLASP VISION: CLASP envisions a future in which governments worldwide ensure that:
Energy consuming appliances, equipment and lighting products are designed and manufactured for maximum energy efficiency and the regulations governing the manufacture and distribution of these products worldwide are aligned or harmonized in order to maximize the economic and environmental benefits to consumers and create a more sustainable society. Anyone who shares this vision is invited to partner with CLASP according to their needs and abilities. Interested parties can join one of four categories of partners-Sponsors, Country Partners, Implementing Partners, and Affiliates-through a fast, online process.
CLASP MISSION: CLASP seeks to serve as the primary international voice and resource for policymakers and practitioners of energy efficiency standards and labeling for residential, commercial and industrial equipment and lighting in South and North countries worldwide.
We invite all parties who meet these criteria to sign up in one or more of the following four CLASP Partnership categories:
SPONSORING PARTNERS - CLASP sponsoring partners provide the funding that allows CLASP to be a UN Sustainable Development Partnership, develop S&L tools, disseminate information, and otherwise support energy efficiency standards and labels (S&L) practitioners worldwide. CLASP's sponsoring partners benefit from CLASP's commitment to promoting and tracking the world's best practice S&L and receive a guarantee of quality for all contracted services.
COUNTRY PARTNERS - CLASP country partners are the governmental practitioners of S&L who use CLASP's S&L tools and information and with whom CLASP's implementing partners collaborate. CLASP country partners share CLASP's commitment to promoting the world's best practice S&L and benefit from CLASP's services and quality guarantee.
IMPLEMENTING PARTNERS - CLASP implementing partners are experts in the various aspects of energy efficiency standard-setting and labeling programs worldwide. They are the providers of CLASP's services. CLASP assigns the world's most qualified individual to all tasks independent of nationality, affiliation or anything else. CLASP's implementing partners conduct their work according to CLASP's principles, join in CLASP's service guarantee to donors and benefit from the opportunities generated by leveraging CLASP's global brokering of S&L. AFFILIATES - CLASP affiliates are manufacturers, distributors, retailers, consumer groups, environmental groups and others in the private sector who share the CLASP Vision and who are willing to support the CLASP Mission by sharing information, participating in CLASP projects and events, and generally promoting quality and uniformity in energy efficiency standard-setting and labeling programs worldwide. CLASP affiliates benefit from regional alignment/harmonization projects that result in a reduction in non-tariff trade barriers and from the social development and environmental benefits that accrue from successful S&L programs.
